NOTES ON NEWS

Define “Broadcast Journalism” in 1-3 sentences.

Things can air instantly through TV. Its reporting events that have happened.


List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness.

1. UnusualnessNews is the different,the unusual, the out of the ordinary. EX; church roof collapsing

2. Significance
Important events that affect many people. EX; Taxes, and elections

3.Timeliness
Old news isnt news, it's history.  EX; People want to hear about the flood now, not next month

4. Proximity
People want to know about nearby events. EX; New state tax law

5. Prominence
When well known people, buildings, or places are involved, thats news. EX: Zac Efron is arreasted: news

6. Human InterestStories about ordinary people or animals, humorous or dramatic.
