A Girl’s Nude Photo, and Altered Lives

There are a lot of teenagers that do that stuff, so I don't see how she can get so much attention from it. But I feel kind of bad for the girl cause she really didn't do anything. All she did was send a picture to her boyfriend, and she didn't know that it was gonna get spread around. But also, I don't think that she should be getting so much attention from it cause thats really sad.

“Having live bands, a variety of different lights and having a school dance like in the movie Grease where the best dances wins a prize!”

Why don’t most kids go to the school dances anyways?
Well I think that some people would rather spend time by themselves or with a big group of friends instead of awkwardly standing there

One of the Eastview teachers got a good laugh out of this one!
Do you, personally, think that the “no grinding rule” is a factor in why some kids don’t go?
(laughs) I think that may be a reason why.. But from what I hear from my students they get boring pretty darn fast!

What is your personal opinion on school dances?
I think that they would be more fun if more people went. Too few people go, so i don’t feel like it would be worth it for me to go to one anyways. Besides, I’ve been to them and they were all really boring, I’d rather hang out with my bro’s!

Do you think school dances are fun? If no, why? If yes, why?
No, because a lot of people just stand there not knowing what to do and it makes me feel uncomfortable being there!

Junkyard pilates

I think that it was a kind of random video to watch. If you're going to do pilates it definitely shouldn't be in a junkyard. If I were to do that, I know that I would really not want to do that in a junkyard..

Man and a goose form unlikely friendship

Steve Hartmen has a very odd relationship with a goose. They walk around the city park together, and he even named her Maria. When he tries to go home, she will fly after him or he will have to wait until she falls asleep so that he can leave. When i read this and saw this i thought it was super cute. I want goose now too that will follow me around and stuff...  But i would be really really sad if something happened to her or if she died.

part 1 interview

Why dont most students go to school dances?

Girl student:
Q: What would make school dances more fun?
A: Having live bands, a variety of different lights and having a school dance like in the movie "Grease" where the best dances wins a prize!

Q: Why don't most people dance at the school dances?
A: I think maybe they dont feel comfortable or they are emarassed to dance in front of their peers and get made fun of. It could also be because maye they dont have anyone to dance with or they're not in the mood.

Q: Do you think school dances are fun? If no, why not?
A: No, and because a lot of people stand there awkwardly like they don't know what to do and it makes me feel uncomfortable. Also, i dont especially like the music selection that they have to offer, i think its all lame.

Boy student:
Q: Why dont most people go to school dances?
A: Some people would rather spend time by themselves or with someone else. I know a lot of people who dont like dancing, especially in front of people, so they would rather do something alone.

Q: What could be done to make school dances more popular?
A: If other options were added such as open gym or food of some sort. If there were more things to do besides JUST dancing a wider audience would be attracted.

Q: What is your personal opinion on the school dances?
A: I think that they would be more fun if more people went. Too few people go, so i dont feel like it would be worth it for me to go to one anyways. Besides, ive been to them and they were all really boring.

Teacher:
Q: Do you think the "no grinding" rule is a cause of most people not going to school dances?
A: No there are other reasons kids dont want to go like the cost of the dance, maybe they didnt know about it, (?) bad advertising! and they kind of get boring and dull really fast from what i hear from my students..!

Q: Do you think highschoolers dance inapropriately?
A: I think they do dance inappropriatly. Its basically a proven fact that if you do go to a school dance that most of all the teenagers will dance inappropriatly. I dont think that you neccerssarily need to grind to have fun at a dance, just be goofy and you'll have much more fun then grinding against someone!

Q: Why do you think that after many years of "inappropriate dancing" has all of a sudden become an issue?
A: Because people (teachers and staff) are now trying to actually put a punishment to the dancing and try to develope a new way of having fun other then all of that bad dancing.

Active and passive quiz

I only got one wrong on this quiz. I thought it was pretty easy, except the one answer i got wrong was kind of hard.

Why naps make you smarter

Volunteers who took a 100-minute nap before taking a evening memorization test scored an average of 20% higher on the memory test compared with people who did the memorization without taking a nap first. You should sleep before you learn, and after helps a lot also. Taking a 90 minute nap helps lock in long term memory things, and dreaming does as well. I thought that this article was kind of cool because i really like to take naps when i can. I sometimes take naps after school and i get yelled at it for it, but i really shouldnt be cause im just trying to be smarter :)

2 assaults reported on Gustavus college campus

The first assault happened around 1:30 a.m on a Saturday, near the Meliva Lind Interpretive Center. The second assault occurred the next night, around 8:30 p.m, on a Sunday, near the Alfred Nobel Hall of Science. There weren't any further details on the assaults except that one of them was sexual. I thought that Gustavus college was one of those really nice schools like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, but I guess things like that can happen anywhere.

High school basketball star dies on court

He died after scoring the winning game shot in over time. When he was about to shake peoples hands, he collapsed to the floor. Everyone thought he collapsed cause of heat exhaustion, so they tried cooling him down by fanning his face and putting ice packs on it before the ambulance came. The death of him remains unknown.
I think its sad that he died unexpectedly and also that he had a girlfriend for two and a half years. If I were her I wouldn't even know what to do with myself. I think this article is extremely sad.

3 people interview

I am going to interview someone who doesnt go to school dances, someone who does, and a teacher. MY topic is  Why dont people go to school dances?

1. Why do you think most students don't attend school dances?
2. Do you think there is a specific reason that people don't enjoy the dances?
3. What could the school do to make the dances more fun?

5 things that I learned

-I learned how to prepare quickly for an interview
-I know about the green-light questions now
-I know about the red-light questions now
-I know now about the pitfalls of "off the record"
-I also learned how to keep an interview going.

U.S teens having less sex, study finds

From ages 15 to 24, the percentage has decreased from 78% to 72%. They say it might have to do with abstinence speeches or the talk of STD's. There has also been a steady drop in teen pregnancies.
I think its weird that they didn't give a reason why it has decreased. And also I think that it has decreased more because of all of the STD's there are.

Hugh Hefner and Crystal set wedding date

Hugh and Crystal are getting married on June 18th at the playboy mansion. He is 84 and she is 24, personally i think thats a really discusting. He is too old to be getting married, and he is especially to old to be getting married to a 24 year old. He is going to die soon, and she still has more than half her life left. So if she really does love him, then when he dies her heart will be broke. But they say she hasnt been around for a long time, and that shes just after him to get his money. If they divorce then she will end up getting half of his money, and i dont think thats right. I think she only wants him for his money, cause he is way too old for her.

Wisconsin power play

Wisconsin is facing budget crunch and cut backs on prices. But it isnt all about the budget its about the power. The govenor wants to get rid of the unions and the democrats are supposed to vote that they fled the state. I didnt think the article made much sense to me. It was really hard to understand and it was pretty boring and uninteresting.

I got a a 22/30 on the quiz, and i thought it was a pretty hard quiz and way too much to read. I guessed on most of it because it was to long to read, but I did pretty good.

'Bieber Fever' is a symptom of what ails the music industry

Fans were enraged when Esperanza Spalding won the grammy for 'best new artist' and not Justin Bieber. They threatened her with sayings like 'im going to kill you' or 'i hope you die.' When Justin and Selena Gomez were seen kissing, some fans even said that they were going to kill themselves.

"So, @EspeSpalding just won with less than 10,000 followers on twitter. LOL. Sorry, I must have accidently turned my t.v to Punk'd. #Grammys"

"you have a 3D movie? do 86 concerts? sell out MSG in 22 minutes? have 7mil followers? no? uh..why da heck you win a grammy?"

Those were some of the things Justin's fans were saying to Esperanza Spalding.

Iowa high school senior killed in minnesota crash

The crash happened at 10pm on friday, on an icy part on highway 63. The car clipped a third vehicle that was headed south. The car crossed into the northbound lane, into the path of a snowplow. Brook Elliot had been the schools homecoming queen, but died. I think that this article is really sad. I dont like hearing about young kids dying because its super sad. If i was a parent and that happened, i wouldn't know what to do. And its really sad that she was the homecoming queen.

Prison for N. Minn. man who drove drunk, killed best friend

A drunk driver was on his motorcycle trying to avoid hitting his dog, rolled over and killed his life long friend of thirty years. He was sentanced to two years in prison, and was charged with involuntary manslaughter. My reaction to this was i felt really bad and it was a sad article. If i killed my best friend of that long I wouldnt know what to do with myself, especially if i was sentanced to 2 years in prison and was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Little girl is allergic to cold

A little girl cant get cold or eat anything that's cold. She cant be in or eat anything that's below 70 degrees or she will have an allergic reaction. If the reaction is left untreated it could possibly kill her. She has to take  antihistamines twice a day and carry an epipen everywhere she goes. She has to take baths as hot as she can take it and use heated towels when she is done. My reaction was a little different because i have never heard of it before. If i were her that would really suck, especially since she lives in new york... For her parents it must be a really big hassle to buy things that are above 70 degrees, and to make sure she never ever gets cold.

5 inches of snow in Dallas, Texas!

By the early morning there was 5 inches of snow on the ground in the Dallas area. Roads were closed due to all the snow and commotion, so people couldn't go anywhere that day. I thought it was kind of weird that they got snow, because I didn't think that they even got snow down there. It's also kind of funny so see how everything shuts down after a couple inches of snow, whereas in the north, everything stays open and there is still lots of people outside running errands.

Girl born with red scaley skin

There was a girl born with a disease that makes her skin red and scaly. She has to peel off the top layer of her skin everyday and put a thick layer of lotion on top after she does. She gets a lot of weird looks from people, and questions like, "Did you put your daughter in a microwave?" If I were this girl, I wouldn't really know what to do. Applying lotion to your skin every half hour of the day would just be a pain. But in the aritcle it says she is happy and has lots of friends at school, so i'm glad she's atleast happy with her life.
